LA CROSSE COUNTY LIBRARY, ONALASKA, WISCONSIN

This video features imagery from the Mississippi River and the Family Reading Garden at Onalaska Public Library near La Crosse, Wisconsin. The garden centerpiece is local artist Mike Martino’s bronze “Invitation to Imagination” sculpture. Literary quotes found on the sculpture are reproduced in the video and the audio track “Under the Stars” is provided by UPPM.

Creation of the sculpture as well as the garden and benches surrounding it was due to the combined effort of the city of Onalaska, the Friends of the Onalaska Library, the library staff and master gardeners who maintain the plantings.

Librarians Sherri Sinniger and Karen Kroll

Celebrate Libraries® recently traveled to Onalaska, Wisconsin to visit  a branch of La Crosse County Library. Onalaska Public Library Branch Manager Sherri Sinniger and Youth Services Coordinator Karen Kroll were interviewed for future podcasts. The library’s new early literacy center was one topic of conversation.

This was the first of several planned trips to western Wisconsin to feature the libraries of La Crosse County in promotional videos. Support for the project comes from the Ho-Chunk Nation, Shopko Foundation, U.S. Bank, La Crosse Hotel La Crosse, Kwik Trip, Inc. and Holiday Inn & Suites La Crosse – Downtown.
