MISSION STATEMENT

Improve the quality of life in our community by providing resources and services that stimulate lifelong personal enrichment, enjoyment, reading and learning. http://beloitlibrary.org

Beloit Public Library is located in a 55,000 square foot former department store overlooking the Rock River. Encouraging lifelong learning and providing library services to all members of the community are the library’s highest priorities.

The city of Beloit is found in the southeast corner of Wisconsin and straddles the Illinois-Wisconsin state line. Once known primarily for a local economy based on steel and heavy industry, the historic downtown is experiencing a renaissance as new retail and residential buildings arise from converted industrial spaces.

Beloit Public Library’s Blender Cafe´ is open for business! Learning!

The Blender Cafe´ is a community supported joint project of the School District of Beloit and Beloit Public Library. Located on the library’s ground floor, the café provides the opportunity for students in Beloit Memorial High School’s hospitality program to receive on the job training to manage and maintain a restaurant.

About 15 students staff the Blender. Each must be a minimum of 15 and a half years of age and meet academic requirements while employed at the cafe´. Students are paid for their work and graduates of the “Blender Program” will be eligible for scholarships to culinary arts programs.

Local supporters include Kerry Ingredients & Flavours of Beloit who provides kitchen equipment and food ingredients.

We would like to thank the supporters who generously gave of their time and resources to realize this creative undertaking.
